Therapy for Special Needs Parents

Raising a child with special needs is not easy. You were hopeful about who you child was going to be when you were expecting them.  You dreamed of what you were going to do with them like baseball and gymnastics.  You wondered who your child was going to be when they got older.

Then your child got a diagnosis and your world changed.  Instead of going to baseball or gymnastics, you are going to doctor's appointments, OT, PT, ET, IEP meetings.  You may not understand what their diagnosis but you just want to make sure they survive their childhood and teen years.  Your own self care has gone out the window; you find yourself unable to balance your child's needs with your own needs, no matter how small they are.

You are Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa but you are also you.  Through psychotherapy, we will take the time to figure out who you are outside of being your child's caregiver, and balance the different parts of your life.  We will redefine your normal, create boundaries, build skills, lessen your stress and make you stronger for your child.
